Barrett grew up in St. Bernard Parish and has 18 years of experience as a trial attorney focusing on catastrophic personal injury involving 18 wheeler accidents, motor vehicle accidents, maritime accidents and Jones Act claims, premise liability cases, medical malpractice, and state workers’ compensation. During his career, Barrett has successfully argued at the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, en banc, as well as the Louisiana State Supreme Court resulting in decisions favorably impacting how and when uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage applies to guest passengers in motor vehicle accidents. From 2007-2008, Barrett served as a federal law clerk to the Honorable Lance M. Africk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He is also a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served a forward deployed tour of duty in Iraq in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Barrett was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps at the rank of Sergeant.
