$ 1.25 million

On Thursday, May 5, 2016, Plaintiffs’ counsel obtained a $1.25 million dollar jury verdict for Plaintiffs in Shreveport, LA. Plaintiff, Larry Robinson, was a disabled Vietnam Veteran who was severely injured in an automobile accident in Caddo Parish with an 18 wheeler driven by a student driver of Diesel Driving Academy, which is based in Shreveport. The student driver was being supervised at the time by a Diesel Driving Academy instructor, who was terminated because of the accident due to her inattention and directions to the driver to execute an unreasonably dangerous left turn.

Mr. Larry Robinson’s vehicle, which was stopped at a red light, was totaled in the accident and he sustained a broken nose, several broken- knocked out teeth, a subsequent cervical fusion and a recommended future lumbar surgery. The jury notably also awarded $255,000.00 to Mr. Robinson for his future medical expenses based on the life care plan completed by Dr. Cornelius Gorman.

Defense counsel, Attorney Steven Soileau, alleged that Plaintiff, Mr. Robinson, was comparatively at fault in the accident and that his neck and lower back injuries were pre-existing due to prior accidents. The jury unanimously rebuked these defenses.

The Plaintiffs’ trial team consisted of LAJ members: Attorney Eric A. Wright, New Orleans; Attorney Patrick Jackson of The Patrick R. Jackson Law Office, Bossier City; and Attorneys Roderick “Rico” Alvendia and Kurt A. Offner of Alvendia, Kelly & Demarest, LLC, New Orleans.
