Elmira Preston vs Memorial Hospital Civil District Court of New Orleans
Case results |April 30th, 2019
$ 25 million
In 2011, Rico Alvendia and Jeanne Demarest along with their fellow plaintiff steering committee obtained a $25,000,000 class action settlement for hundreds of families who had loved ones, to include patients and medical staff, who were stranded for days in the horrific conditions at Memorial Hospital in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck the city. Many of the patients died due to the hospital’s parent corporation’s failure to timely evacuate them before and after Katrina passed.
